Events Overview

QCI organizes a wide range of programming and events throughout the year. Regular events include our Harvest Festival every fall, a variety of field-based workshops and town hall events throughout the academic year, and a lineup of research seminars, workshops, and film screenings each summer. We hold our events at Yale-Myers Forest Camp in Eastford, elsewhere in Yale-Myers Forest, or in one of the nearby communities we work with.

Please note: Yale University’s campus, including our Forest Camp at Yale-Myers, has limited access due to COVID-19. Unfortunately, this means that we currently havelimited in-person workshops on the calendar.

Get to Know Your Forester: Why & How We Manage Forests

December 2, 2020 | Recording

CT DEEP Service Foresters Andrea Urbano and Frank Cervo joined us for a discussion about how we care for our forested landscapes in Connecticut. We talked about who foresters are and what they do, before moving into an overview of forest management practices, which are often modeled after natural disturbances like wind and storm events. We closed with some thoughts on how we manage forests with all sorts of different goals and objectives in mind, from wildlife habitat to climate resiliency to water quality.
